Courthouse Renovations Slowed

JEFFERSON - Renovations on the historic Jackson County courthouse are now delayed. The County Manager tells WNEG it's because of the winter weather and unexpected repairs. "When it rains, it puts an additional amount of moisture on the scaffolding that  must be up there to get there. It's too cold, it's frozen, and it's rather windy.  And, those are very unsafe conditions," explains Darrell Hampton.

Hampton says the plan is to restore the 130-year-old building back to it's original. And, the county will use the facility for office space and community meetings.

The restoration project should be completed in the Spring.
