Pasture to Become Park, Library

HALL COUNTY - The citizens of north Hall County have spoken. They want a library added to the plans of a new community center. The county administrator tells WNEG's Tracy Armbruster that they had already considered building a library in the area and he feels it would be a great addition to the park.

"We could perhaps look at the funding and save a few dollars there. The economies of pulling those two together seems to make a lot of sense," explains Charley Nix.

Nix explains that this new park will be located on about 120 acres of land off Norpone Road in North Hall County. "We'll have tennis courts and baseball. There are gymnasiums for basketball," says Nix.

There will also be spaces available for indoor and outdoor community events, as well as a possible library. "If you have two or three children, you may one you'd love to have at the library studying. The other one may have basketball practice. You may have one out playing baseball on one of the fields. So, it seemed to make sense to have those kind of commodities in one place," adds Nix.

The Board of Commissioners will vote on the library addition at their meeting on Thursday, February 11.

Members will also vote on a special alcohol license for those events that take place at local parks. This issue was raised after the American Bass Anglers Association announced plans to hold their annual fishing tournament at Laurel Park, which includes serving alcohol to possibly five-thousand visitors. That event will be held on March 12-13.

Agree with Jack. A waste of taxpayer money.

In a time where we're suffering economically, how in the world can they justify this. Nuts.
