KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - A pair of Clarke Central Gladiators will be reunited in Knoxville next season. New Tennessee coach Derek Dooley has official hired Chuck Smith as an assistant coach. The hire completes Dooley's staff.
Smith is a former Volunteer and Atlanta Falcon who also played with Dooley at Clarke Central High School in the 1980s.
Smith helped Tennessee to the 1990 SEC title and a Sugar Bowl win. He was All-SEC in 1991 for a team that reached the Fiesta Bowl.
